Santon House
A unique and quintessentially English experience.

A most impressive and substantial Detached House, surely one of the finest properties in this quiet, western side of the Lake District National Park. Architect designed in 1936 by Medcalf and Medcalf of Liverpool, and completed in 1938 incorporating the very best of materials and craftmanship.
It has been beautifully maintained by the present owners Alan & Judith Jeffery who have faithfully preserved the essential character of this fine house.

The main rooms all have corniced ceilings which enhance the beauty of the lovely accommodation. The large windows offer views of the surrounding grounds and countryside and the principal rooms all have open views of the Wasdale Fells towards Great Gable.
On the ground floor is the Magnificent entrance with wide easy staircase, cloakroom with WC and utility room with washing machine and a fully fitted kitchen. A drawing room with baby Grand Piano and period furnishings, sitting room and dining room which can easily seat 8. On the first floor there is a master bedroom and three further bedrooms with a large fully tiled family bathroom.

The landscaped parkland gardens extend to approx. 2.5 acres and there is an adjoining pasture garden of 5.5 acres. Santon House occupies a unique position in this unspoilt area close to the village of Gosforth, within four miles of Seascale, fifteen miles of Whitehaven and only 75 minutes drive from the M6. Apart from the natural beauty of the area there are many facilities for the pursuit of outdoor activities nearby, including fishing in the Salmon and Trout rivers, shooting, pony trecking, and an 18 hole Golf Course (Seascale). Wastwater and Eskdale are only a few minutes drive away, as is the quiet and sandy West Cumbria Coast.
